Troops of 65 Battalion, Nigerian Army, in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force and local vigilantes, have rescued two kidnap victims following their abduction at a farm in Igbonla, Epe Local Government Area of Lagos State.
The victims, identified as Mr Kelvin Okafor and Mr Alex Anato, were abducted while working on the farm on Friday, September 4, 2026.
The operation was launched following credible intelligence on the abduction, prompting the joint security team to mobilise to the area and track the kidnappers to their hideout.
On sighting the advancing troops and other security personnel, the kidnappers reportedly abandoned their captives and fled into the surrounding forest.
The joint team pursued the fleeing criminals, leading to the neutralisation of one of the kidnappers, while two others escaped deeper into the forest.
The two victims were rescued unhurt and handed over to the Nigeria Police Force for medical assessment, debriefing and further necessary action.
The remains of the neutralised kidnapper were also handed over to the police for appropriate action.
The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property, saying troops would continue to conduct intelligence-led operations in collaboration with other security agencies and local stakeholders.

In collaboration with other security agencies and local stakeholders, troops will continue to sustain aggressive and intelligence-led operations to deny criminal elements freedom of action and enhance the safety and security of communities across the country.”
