Troops of Sector 2, Joint Task Force North-West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued three kidnapped victims following a distress call over terrorist activities along the Dandume-Sheme Road in Dandume Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The rescue operation was conducted on September 3, 2026, after local residents alerted security authorities to the activities of the terrorists operating along the road.
Acting on the information, troops, in collaboration with personnel of the Nigeria Police Force, swiftly mobilised to the area and engaged the terrorists.
The troops reportedly overwhelmed the terrorists with superior firepower, forcing them to flee into the surrounding bush and abandon their victims.
A subsequent search of the area led to the rescue of three kidnapped victims and the recovery of two vehicles allegedly used by the terrorists.
The rescued victims and recovered vehicles were later handed over to the Divisional Police Officer, Dandume, while troops continued aggressive patrols across the area to prevent the terrorists from regrouping.
The Media Information Officer of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lt. Col. Aliyu Danja, said the successful operation demonstrated the troops’ determination to protect residents and their property across the Joint Operations Area.
“The successful rescue operation demonstrates the resolve of troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA to safeguard the lives and property of law-abiding citizens across the Joint Operations Area.”
Danja commended residents for their continued support and urged communities to remain vigilant and provide timely information on suspicious activities.
