President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has charged members of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council to work tirelessly to secure victory for the party in the January 2027 presidential election.
Tinubu, who will serve as chairman of the APC Presidential Campaign Council alongside Vice President Kashim Shettima as vice chairman, urged members of the council to unite their efforts and effectively project the achievements of his administration to Nigerians.
The President also directed leaders of the various directorates to reach out to other party members who may not have been formally listed in the campaign council but could contribute to the party’s efforts ahead of the election.
According to him, the APC administration has fulfilled its campaign promises and placed the country on the path of economic recovery and progress.
“We have delivered on our campaign promises and set our country on a path of economic progress. We are definitely out of the dark tunnel and are now at the cusp of reaping the benefits of a prosperous economy that will benefit all Nigerians.”
Tinubu urged the campaign council to make the administration’s achievements central to its campaign messaging, saying the party had enough accomplishments to present to the electorate.
“As we march into the campaign season, we have many achievements to trumpet—let us confidently showcase our record and inspire hope in every corner of our nation.”
He further charged the campaign team to mobilise Nigerians around the APC’s vision while working to prevent a return to what he described as forces seeking to take the country backwards.
“Let us soundly defeat all those forces who plan to take our country backwards.”
The President’s charge came as the APC unveiled the structure of its Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 election, with former Zamfara State Governor, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, appointed Director-General and Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, named Secretary.
Other members of the campaign structure include Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni, Senator Adams Oshiomhole and James Abiodun Faleke, who will oversee various aspects of the campaign.
The council will also include dedicated directorates for election planning, legal affairs, media and strategic communication, mobilisation and new media as the party begins preparations for the 2027 presidential contest.
