The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has warned Nigerians at home and abroad to use only its official online portal for passport applications and payments, cautioning against dealing with unauthorised individuals, organisations or third-party platforms.
In a public advisory issued on Wednesday, the Service said the only approved platform for passport payments is passport.immigration.gov.ng, urging applicants to avoid fraudulent websites and intermediaries.
The NIS also clarified that foreigners seeking Nigerian visas should use only the official visa portals. According to the Service, applications for embassy-issued visas should be processed through visa.immigration.gov.ng, while electronic visa applications should be submitted via evisa.immigration.gov.ng.
The Service stressed that it has not partnered with, or authorised, any religious organisation, private company or individual to collect payments or act as an intermediary on its behalf.
“At no time has the Service partnered with or authorised any religious organisation, private entity or individual to act as intermediary or receiving account on its behalf,” the statement said.
The Immigration Service advised members of the public to remain vigilant and verify all passport and visa transactions through its official channels to avoid falling victim to fraudsters.
It also encouraged anyone seeking clarification, assistance or wishing to report complaints relating to passport or visa applications to contact the Service through its verified communication channels on X (formerly Twitter), Facebook, Instagram and designated WhatsApp lines.
The NIS reaffirmed its commitment to providing secure and transparent immigration services while urging Nigerians to stay informed and transact only through authorised government platforms.
