The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced plans to conduct a mock accreditation exercise on Saturday, August 1, 2026, as part of preparations for the August 15 Osun State governorship election.
The commission said the exercise would take place in designated polling units across 12 local government areas spanning the state’s three senatorial districts to assess its readiness for the election.
According to a statement signed by the Head of Department, Voter Education, Publicity, Gender and Inclusivity, Ariyo Rufus, the exercise will be held in Osogbo, Olorunda, Ifelodun and Boripe Local Government Areas in Osun Central Senatorial District; Egbedore, Ede North, Ede South and Ejigbo in Osun West; as well as Ilesa West, Ilesa East, Oriade and Obokun in Osun East.
INEC explained that the exercise is intended to test the functionality and efficiency of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) under conditions similar to those on election day, noting that no voting will take place during the exercise.
The commission urged all registered voters in the selected polling units to participate by presenting their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), reaffirming its commitment to conducting a free, fair, credible, transparent and inclusive governorship election in Osun State.
