Quadri Aruna’s 2025 WTT Star Contender Muscat campaign ended abruptly at the weekend as the Nigerian star fell to Romania’s Eduard Ionescu 3-2 in the round of 32 opener.

Aruna, the 2023 African champion, had a tough time adjusting to Ionescu’s pace, trailing 2-1 before pushing the match to a deciding set.
Despite his best efforts, Aruna couldn’t find a way to overcome Ionescu’s pressure, ending his Muscat bid early.
This early exit adds to Aruna’s underwhelming performances at WTT tournaments in 2025, where he struggled to replicate his past successes.
