Security forces have launched a manhunt for suspected attackers following the killing of a resident, Daniel Simon Dachomo, in Nyarwai village, Fan District, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Dachomo was killed at about 7:50am on Sunday, August 9, when troops of Sector 4, Operation ENDURING PEACE, Barkin Ladi, responded to a report of an attack in the community.
According to security sources, the troops arrived at the scene and found the victim’s body with gunshot wounds.
The assailants, suspected in the initial report to be members of a Fulani militia, had reportedly fled the area before the arrival of the security personnel.
The troops recovered an empty cartridge case and a live round of 7.62 x 39mm ammunition at the scene.
Following the discovery, the security forces immediately intensified their presence in the area, dominating and combing the surrounding communities in an effort to track the fleeing attackers.
Efforts are also ongoing to identify and apprehend those responsible for the killing, while security personnel are maintaining surveillance around Nyarwai and adjoining communities to prevent further attacks.
The incident has heightened security concerns in the area, with residents urged to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements and activities to security agencies.
Security forces have also appealed to members of the community to provide credible and timely information that could assist in identifying the perpetrators and facilitate their arrest.
