The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) says it has successfully uploaded the names of its presidential candidate, running mate and National Assembly candidates to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Candidate Nomination Portal ahead of the deadline for submissions.
The announcement was made on Sunday by the National Chairman of the party, Hon. Abdulrahman Mohammed Takushara, who described the development as a significant milestone in the PDP’s preparations for the 2027 general elections.
According to Takushara, the successful submission of the candidates’ details underscores the party’s commitment to participating fully in the 2027 electoral process and reflects progress in its efforts to position itself for the polls.
“I am pleased to inform all PDP members and Nigerians that our great party, under my leadership, has successfully uploaded the names of our Presidential Candidate, his Running Mate, and our National Assembly candidates onto the INEC Candidate Nomination Portal,” he said.
The PDP chairman noted that the move fulfils a key pledge made by the party’s leadership to ensure the PDP remains actively engaged in the electoral process despite internal and external challenges.
He added that the party was awaiting the completion of the upload of its governorship and State House of Assembly candidates, expressing confidence that the process would be concluded in line with the electoral timetable.
Takushara congratulated party members across Nigeria and in the diaspora for what he described as another important step toward rebuilding and strengthening the PDP ahead of the 2027 elections.
“This is a clear demonstration of our commitment to the promise we made that, under my leadership, the PDP will fully participate in the 2027 General Elections. Today, we have taken another decisive step towards fulfilling that promise,” he stated.
The PDP chairman also called for unity among party members, urging them to remain focused on the party’s objective of providing an alternative platform for governance and national development.
“Together, we will continue to build a stronger, more united party and a better future for our nation,” he added.
The development comes amid heightened political activities across the country as political parties race to meet INEC’s nomination deadlines and conclude preparations for the 2027 general elections.
INEC recently extended the deadline for the submission of candidates for the presidential and National Assembly elections to July 14, 2026, following requests from political parties seeking additional time to complete the nomination process.
