Oyo State Government is set to return ₦28million illegal fees to parents who have paid for entrance forms for secondary schools and Technical Colleges in the State just before GOVERNOR MAKINDE cancelled such payments.
This was made known by the Commissioner for Education, PROFESSOR KEHINDE SANGODOYIN in Ibadan the Oyo state capital.
PROFESSOR SANGODOYIN seized the opportunity to disclose the projects the present administration has embarked upon towards effective education system in Oyo State as the new academic year resumes on Monday, September 16, 2019.
The Commissioner said the Ministry is set to distribute textbooks, exercise books and other educational materials to all public schools starting from Wednesday, September 11, 2019.
“We need to refund the parents the illegal fees collected for admission from the students who are entering into secondary Schools and Technical Colleges in the state before the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde.
” We are set to distribute text books, exercise books and other educational materials to every public school in the state which has already commenced yesterday (Wednesday).
PROF. SANGODOYIN also said that a compendium of past questions and answers would be distributed to students of private and public schools, noting that the customised exercise books were started and completed by the MAKINDE government.
He said the Ministry is taking stock of the teachers in the State to know the distribution on the subjects and that the State is set to commence extra-mural classes for SS3 students between Tuesday and Thursdays and weekends for them to be able to man the content of the syllabus.
“The Ministry has started taking a stock of teachers in Oyo State to have the knowledge of the subjects and the State is ready to start extra-mural classes for the final year students to able to understand the content of the syllabus” said SANGODOYIN.
The commissioner noted that the Ministry had made changes on the website of the Ministry, including the introduction of helplines that citizens could call to contact the Ministry on developments that need urgent attention, noting that there were plans that will allow private schools to use the Ministry’s resources through the website.
