Not less than nine lawmakers of the Imo House of Assembly defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), and Action Action (AA) on Monday.
The lawmakers who defected were AUTHUR EGWIM (Ideato North) from AA to APC; CHYNA IWUANYANWU (Nwangele), PDP to APC; CHIDIEBERE OGBUNIKPA (Okigwe), PDP to APC; OBINNA OKWARA (Nkwerre), AA to APC; and PAUL EMEZIEM (Onuimo) also from PDP to APC.
Others are EKENE NNODIMELE (Orsu) from APGA to APC, JOHNSON DURU (Ideato South), AA to APC; NGOZI OBIEFULE (Isu) AA to APC; and HECLUS OKOROCHA (Ohaji/Egbema) from PDP to APC.
The letters written by the decampees was read on the floor of the house around 3:30 pm by the Speaker of the House, RT. HON.COLLINS CHIJI.
Shortly after the announcement of the decampees the Deputy Speaker of the House, OKEY ONYEKANMA, resigned his position.
Meanwhile, Sunrisetimes.com.ng gathered that more assembly members are already to decamp any moment.
The Speaker also announced the screening of the Attorney General of Imo State, CYPRIAN AKAOLISA, who was recently appointed by the governor, HOPE UZODINMA.
