Nigeria’s Brig Gen Abdullahi Maikano has emerged President of the Organization of Military Sports in Africa, OSMA garnering 66 percent of the votes to defeat two other candidates from Algeria and Guinea in an election held in Yaounde, Cameroun on Wednesday.
Speaking after his victory, Brig Gen Maikano who is currently Deputy Director Sports, Defence Headquarters Abuja, promised to join hands with other members of the Organization to lift the standard of the continent’s Military sports body.
Organization of Military Sports in Africa, OSMA is the body that represents Africa on the International Military Sports Council and its mandate is to foster friendship through Sports while promoting physical fitness among the Armed Forces of member States.
Fifty-one delegates within the fifty-one member States in Africa voted at the election.
