The Headquarters of the Nigerian Army Ordnance Corps (NAOC) has declared one of its personnel, Private Mohammed Yusuf Amutu, wanted over his alleged involvement in the illegal sale and supply of military uniforms to terrorists and other criminal elements.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the Corps said preliminary investigations revealed that the soldier, who was serving at the Nigerian Army Ordnance Kits Factory, absconded from his unit on June 3, 2026.
The Army said appropriate military authorities have declared Amutu wanted, while efforts are ongoing to locate and arrest him for a full investigation and possible disciplinary action in line with existing military laws.
According to the statement, the Nigerian Army maintains zero tolerance for misconduct, indiscipline or any act capable of undermining its operational effectiveness, integrity and reputation or threatening national security.
The Corps warned that any military personnel found aiding terrorists, criminals or other non-state actors through the unauthorised sale, diversion or distribution of military uniforms, accoutrements or other controlled items would face the full weight of both military and civil laws.
It appealed to members of the public to provide credible information that could lead to the arrest of the wanted soldier, urging anyone with useful information to report to the nearest military formation or any security agency.
The Nigerian Army Ordnance Corps reaffirmed its commitment to accountability, professionalism and the protection of military assets, adding that it would continue to strengthen internal control measures and ensure that all allegations of misconduct are thoroughly investigated, with those found culpable held accountable.
