Nigeria Cricket Federation celebrates upward movements in the ICC ranking after the long period of breaks caused by Covid-19 pandemic.
The General Manager of Nigeria Cricket Federation, Emeka Igwilo has revealed how happy the Federation is in the upward movements of the two senior national teams of both men and women.
Nigeria gained two places up the T20I by playing in the just concluded Tri-Series in Uganda against the host country and Kenya.
In the ICC Ranking of April 2021, Nigeria was 39 whereas the new ranking released 20th September 2021 shows the men’s Team moved up to 36.
At the top of Nigeria in the list of the Africa Teams include South Africa (5), Zimbabwe (11), Namibia (19) Kenya (25), Uganda (33) and Botswana (35).
In the Women’s Cricket, Nigeria was 41 in March 2021 ranking for T20I, and the current ranking released 17th September 2021 shows our ladies have also moved three steps up to rank 38.
The General Manager attributed the progress to the efforts of the NCF leadership, Players, sponsors, Coaches and indeed all stakeholders that assisted in the growth of the game. He also expressed his gladness for the continued guidance of ICC Africa whose invaluable inspiration is awesome.
