Nigeria booked a place in the AFCON 2025 semi-finals with a 2-0 victory over the Desert Foxes of Algeria, on Saturday in Marakkesh asserting authority through high tempo, structure, and efficiency.
From the opening exchanges, Nigeria dictated the rhythm and limited Algeria’s ability to settle.
Victor Osimhen opened the scoring with a decisive finish that rewarded Nigeria’s early pressure, before Akor Adams sealed the result later in the contest as Algeria pushed forward. Nigeria’s pressing and midfield control ensured the game remained firmly on their terms.
Defensively, Nigeria stayed compact and disciplined, denying Algeria clear openings and managing the latter stages with maturity. The performance reflected a side comfortable with knockout demands and confident in its identity.
Nigeria will now face hosts Morocco in the semi-finals, setting up a high-stakes encounter with a place in the final on the line.
