…Students to enjoy 70% discount on Tuition fees
The UNICITI International Education Hub in Mauritius and Swansea University in Wales, UK on Friday in Abuja launched a One Year Top-up program designed for Nurses across the Africa Continent.
The program titled “A Pathway to Excellence” was unveiled at a press conference held in Abuja by the Ambassador for Health and Education for UNICITI International Education Hub in Mauritius and Swansea University in Wales, Ambassador Peace Onuiri.
Amb. Onuiri said the one-year top-up program is designed for nurses who already hold a diploma or BSc in Nursing.
In her words “This program, delivered by the prestigious Swansea University in the UK, will be hosted at the UNICITI Education Hub in Mauritius, a vibrant center of academic excellence. In just six weeks, we will begin welcoming students from across the continent, uniting them in a shared mission to elevate the standards of nursing in Africa.
According to Ambassador Peace Onuiri, the program is delivered by the prestigious Swansea University in the UK and will be hosted at the UNICITI Education Hub in Mauritius.
Ambasador Onuiri added that in six weeks UNICITI will begin to welcome students from across the continent, uniting them in a shared mission to elevate the standards of nursing in Africa.
Also speaking at the event, a renowned UN Medical and health Consultant, Dr Ejike Orji charged practicing Nurses in Nigeria to take advantage of the program and enroll for optimum healthcare service delivery
According to Ambassador Onuiri the program is not just an academic endeavor; it is a transformative journey that will empower our nurses with advanced skills, knowledge, and global perspectives where African nurses will receive world-class training directly from Swansea University’s esteemed lecturers, right here on African soil.
She further added that tuition will be a fraction of what Swansea University charges, as the cost of tuition will be 5,000 pounds. She went further to say the program organizers will go further to give the first 50 people that enrol for the program, a 70% discount .
‘’We recognize that financial barriers often stand in the way of educational advancement, which is why we are offering an unprecedented 70% discount on tuition fees for the first 50 students who enroll. This makes the program accessible to a broad range of talented individuals’’, she said.
‘’Ensuring that finances do not hinder their potential.
Speaking further, Ambassador Peace said: ‘’Beyond the financial benefits, students will also gain access to a global network of healthcare professionals, opening doors to countless opportunities during and after the training.
Speaking on the benefits of the program, Onuiri said the program will address gaps Africa faces in healthcare as well as addressing the brain drain syndrome.
Her word: ‘’the program is aimed at Addressing Critical Gaps Africa faces significant challenges in healthcare, including brain drain and the loss of skilled professionals to other continents. This program is a strategic initiative to curb this trend by providing our nurses with the opportunity to advance their careers without leaving the continent. By doing so, we strengthen our healthcare systems from within, ensuring that the best and brightest remain in Africa to serve our communities.
‘’This program will directly address critical gaps in our healthcare systems by enhancing the quality of care delivered to our people. Our nurses will be equipped with cutting-edge knowledge and skills, enabling them to provide care that meets the highest international standards. This, in turn, will improve patient outcomes, reduce healthcare disparities, and contribute to the overall well-being of our nations’’. Said Onuiri.
For the requirement needed for enrolment, Ambassador Peace stated that a B.Sc or a Diploma in Nursing is all that is needed for a prospective applicant to be part of the program.
Concluding her address, Onuiri reiterated that the future of African healthcare lies in our hands.
