The Honourable Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters in Oyo State, HON. (MRS.) FUNMILAYO ORISADEYI was at IJAWAYA Village, Atiba Local Government Council of Oyo State on Wednesday morning to commission three Motorized Boreholes.
The commissioner arrived Atiba Local Government, Offa Meta early hours of Wednesday morning and was led straight to Ijawaya in company of the Caretaker Chairman for Atiba Local Government Council, HON. IBRAHIM SULAIMAN AKINKUNMI.
HON. ORISADEYI reiterated the commitment of MAKINDE’S administration to the development of rural areas.
“I congratulate our people in Ijawaya and Atiba Local Government Council for being alive to witness new beginning in the history of your LG and villages. The message I have for you from his excellency is to keep living in harmony, and continue to express love towards this administration both at the LG and state levels.
“Always channel your demands peacefully through your LG boss, I’m sure he would not hesitate to forward it to me. Let me also declare here today that I have a standing order of his Excellency, instructing me to give prompt attention to the demand of all the LG Chairmen in line with the statutory power of my office and as approved by his excellency,” HON. ORISADEYI declared.
“I think this has reflected in a manner your request was attended to and eventual provision of the boreholes. You requested for a borehole about 3 months ago and your LG Boss took a drastic action by getting 3 boreholes installed as against your initial request of one. The remaining two were sited at Okedoyin and Ajiroba/Agbaakin to safe people living in those villages the stress of trekking a long distance to Ijawaya for drinkable and hygienic water,”theCommissioner explained.
HON. AKINKUNMI, the Caretaker Chairman of Atiba didn’t waste time to reference the governor in his speech and also acknowledged the role of COGVAC-19 team that brought campaign against Covid-19 to Ijawaya, which gave the villagers opportunity to present their needs.
“I’m happy today that God has used Gov. Makinde’s administration to wipe away tears from the faces of our people in Ijawaya, Okedoyin and Ajiroba/Agbaakin villages. Ijawaya has been in existence for decades but without drinkable water. Today, Ijawaya and other villages around it now have hygienic water to drink, wash, bath and prepare food and traditional herbs,” HON. AKINKUNMI stated.
“Let me assure you, there would be no suffering in this village and Oyo State in general again. His Excellency has mandated us to ensure the needs of our people are met without any delay. So, we are seeking further cooperation from you. Let me also thank the ALGIO and COGVAC-19 team for being the instrument used by God to bring this into fulfilment,” the chairman commended.
The head of local government administration in Atiba LG, who is also the Chairman of Advisory Council of the Coalition of Grassroots Volunteers Against Covid-19 (COGVAC-19), COMRADE BAYO TITILOLA-SODO commended governor Makinde for prompt payment of workers’ salaries, gratuities and allowances/bonuses. He also praised COGVAC-19 for the selfless service towards humanity.
“Though I’m not a politician, however truth shouldn’t be covered. Engr. Seyi Makinde stand out and he is a man with milk of human kindness. Regular payment of salaries, entitlements, gratuities, free education and provision of infrastructural amenities can’t be compared with anything, because of it’s direct effect on masses lives,” COMRADE SODO stated.
Meanwhile, BARRISTER IDOWU OYELEKE, the Chairman, Community and Social Development Agency (CSDA), who also attended the programme pledged to ensure electricity gets to Ijawaya within the shortest possible time.
While responding to the encomiums showered on COGVAC-19 team, the chairman of the main organising committee of the group COMRADE KUNLE KAREEM commended everyone that made the work of COGVAC-19 team a success.
“I have never been this overwhelmed, this is great and noteworthy. Our motivation came from the sentence, ‘to whom much is given, much more is expected’. Our leaders surrounded us like wall, encouraged and rallied us great support and blessed our movements. Why wouldn’t we succeed?
“Since our mother, Hon. Funmilayo Orisadeyi started following us, it has been success galore, we thank you ma. What can we say of our great leader, who has never missed any of our trips. He supported us morally and financially, Comrade Bayo Titilola-Sodo, we say, thank you sir. Our wonderful chairman in Atiba LG, thank you for the promise kept, may you continue to be blessed,” COMRADE KUNLE KAREEM prayed.
Others at Ijawaya Village to witness the event where boreholes were commissioned are, members of the executives in the local government, directors in the council, PDP Chairman in Atiba LG, Youths leader, women, leader, PDP members from Atiba, COGVAC-19 team, including PASTOR ODUOLA, ALHAJI KUNLE KAREEM, COMRADE RAMAT, COMRADE BAYO OGUNWALE, COMRADE BAYO RAHEEF, COMRADE DEBO ADEOYE and others.
