Major Gen Abubakar Tasks Media on Report That will Enhance Troops Operation

The Theatre Commander of Operation HADIN KAI, Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar has appealed to media practitioners to always ensure that their reports of on going operations against enemies of the state; Boko Haram, ISWAP terrorists, banditry among others are tailored towards enhancing operation of the troops across the country.
Gen. Abubakar made the appeal on Tuesday, May 27, 2025 at the Headquarters of the Joint Taskforce of Operation HADIN KAI in Malamali Barracks , Maiduguri Borno State when he received Defence Correspondents who are on tour of war theatres in the country.
He said the media must realize that they are an essential partner in the on going war against insurgency whose works must be seen to promoting the activities of security agencies who are at forefront of the battle rather than encouraging the terrorists.
He said the only way to address misconception surrounding operations of troops is by constantly having the media to report from the Theatres that way they will be giving first hand information to the public.
According to him, “if the media reports are not portraying what the troops of the Nigerian Army are doing definitely it will be glorifying the terrorists and its capable of damning the moral of the troops. So, I urged you to tell Nigerians the battle is not Nigerian Army against Terrorists, but Terrorists against all Nigerians that way they appreciate what troops are doing.
“I want to appeal to media practitioners to always ensure that the reportage of on going Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists crisis are not tailored to promote their course .
“You must realize that you are an essential partner in the on going war against insurgency whose works must be seen to promoting the activities of security agencies who are at forefront of the battle rather than encouraging the terrorists,” he said.
