The 1-0 loss the Super Eagles suffered in the hands of the Fennecs of Algeria has been described as a blessing in disguise by Coach LADAN BOSSO.
BOSSO, who is the President of Nigeria Football Coaches Association (NFCA), said that the loss is a wakeup call for the players to give their optimal performance in their next game against Tunisia, as he noted that Nigerians will see a more cohesive and purposeful football from the players against the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia.
“Millions of football passionate Nigerians hate to lose a game, whether it is a friendly game or not, does not matter, they just want the Super Eagles not to lose any game, but to me I see the loss as a blessing in disguise,” BOSSO said.
“It is also a wake up call for some of the players to raise their game and it should also be noted that four players made their debuts in the game against Algeria, the reigning African Champions.
“I think Rohr had seen one or two positive things from that game and the team will have a more productive game against Tunisia,” he added.
The newly appointed Chief Coach of the Flying Eagles commended the efforts of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) in organising quality friendly games during this FIFA window and despite Cote D’Ivoire pulling out almost at the last minute, the Federation still made a quality replacement by getting Algeria to play Nigeria.
“I must commend the NFF for being very proactive in organising these friendly games in this FIFA window. Cote D’Ivoire was the team originally scheduled to play Nigeria, but they pulled out and NFF quickly contacted Algeria, another quality opponents and Nigerians will not doubt that it was even better to play the reigning African champions,” he said.
The Super Eagles will play their next friendly game against the Carthage Eagles on Tunisia on Tuesday.
