The House of Representatives, through its Committee on Infectious Diseases, is set to hold an investigative hearing on the management of over $4.6 billion in grants received by Nigeria from the Global Fund and USAID since 2021 for the fight against infectious diseases and the strengthening of Resilient and Sustainable Systems for Health (RSSH) according to a Press release from of the office of the spokesman of the house of representative and signed by Honourable Akin Rotimi, the spokesman.
The hearing follows the adoption of a motion titled “The Need to Investigate the Over $1.8 and $2.8 Billion Grant Received by Nigeria from Global Fund and USAID from 2021 to 2025 for Response Against HIV, Tuberculosis, Malaria, and for Supporting Resilient and Sustainable Systems for Health (HR. 74/10/2025).”
Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, PhD, GCON, will serve as Chief Host, while the Chairman of the House Committee on Infectious Diseases, Rep. Amobi Godwin Ogah, FCE, will serve as Host of the engagement.

Speaking ahead of the hearing, Rep. Amobi Godwin Ogah, Chairman of the Committee on Infectious Diseases, emphasised the importance of transparency in Nigeria’s health financing ecosystem.
“This investigation is a necessary step to ensure that every dollar received on behalf of the Nigerian people achieves its intended purpose. We are determined to strengthen accountability mechanisms, enhance health system efficiency, and ensure that donor-funded programs deliver measurable impact on the lives of Nigerians,” Rep. Ogah stated.
