England and Ghana played out a 0-0 draw at Boston Stadium in their second Group L encounter at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, leaving qualification to the knockout rounds balanced ahead of the final group matches.
Despite dominating possession for long spells, England were unable to break down a well set up Ghanaian defence that stood firm under sustained pressure from the Three Lions.
England’s best opportunity arrived late in the contest when Nico O’Reilly struck the crossbar, only for Harry Kane to miss the follow-up chance. Ghana, meanwhile, executed their game plan superbly, remaining compact at the back while looking to threaten on the counterattack.
The result sees both teams move to four points from two matches, maintaining strong positions in the race for a place in the Round of 32.
The draw keeps Group L wide open heading into the final round of fixtures. England sit atop the standings on goal difference and will face Panama knowing victory guarantees progression, while Ghana prepare for a crucial showdown with Croatia.
Croatia boosted their hopes with a narrow 1-0 victory over Panama later in the day, ensuring all qualification scenarios remain in play. With the group still up for grabs, the final matchday promises plenty of drama and high stakes.
