Former SUPER EAGLES and WOLVERHAMPTON WANDERERS goalkeeper, CARL IKEME has revealed his long search for an IGBO teacher.
The UK-based former player, who has retired from playing, tweeted on his desire for the services of an Igbo instructor in a discussion with DR. DÍPÒ AWÓJÍDÉ.
DR. AWÓJÍDÉ had tweeted on his plans to “Starting our Yoruba, Igbo and Hausa Language School very soon” in the MIDLANDS (NOTTINGHAM, LEICESTER, BIRMINGHAM and COVENTRY), of which IKEME inquired, “Has this started yet?”
Although AWÓJÍDÉ replied that the school had not started due to funds, IKEME requested to be put in the know if any progress is made.
“Thank you I have been looking for an Igbo teacher for a while. So please let me know if you do get this going ! Thank you,” he replied.
33-year-old IKEME is Nigerian but was born and in England. But it is yet unclear if it is himself or his children that needs the language lessons.
IKEME, who was diagnosed with acute leukaemia but is now in full remission, announced his retirement from football in 2018 on medical grounds.
He made 10 appearances for Nigeria and was in goal in the SUPER EAGLES 2-1 victory over ZAMBIA during the 2018 WORLD CUP QUALIFIERS.
