The quarterfinals of the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 have been concluded and the stage is set for the semifinals. Despite the scorching heat in most venues across the US the FIFA club world cup has witnessed some thrilling matches. Let’s dive into the story of how it all unfolded.
The first quarter final game was Fluminense vs Al Hilal. Fluminense secured a 2-1 win over Al Hilal,with goals from Matheus Martinelli and Hércules. This victory booked their spot in the semifinals against Chelsea.
Chelsea on the other hand had a tough game against one of the most efficient Brazilian teams at the tournament; Palmeiras. Chelsea edged out Palmeiras 2-1, thanks to a late own goal from Agustín Giay after Cole Palmer’s early strike and Estêvão’s equalizer. This win sets up a semifinal clash with Fluminense.
Another explosive quarter final fixture was Paris Saint-Germain vs Bayern Munich, PSG dominated Bayern Munich, winning 2-0 and holding on despite finishing with nine men. It couldn’t have worse for the Bavarian giants as star player Jamal Musiala suffered a severe injury which would likely keep the German forward on the sidelines for a long period.
The last quarter final game was the game between Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund. Real Madrid came from behind to win 3-2 against Borussia Dortmund. Gonzalo Garcia and Fran Garcia’s early goals gave Madrid an advantage, but Dortmund fought back. Kylian Mbappe’s goal sealed the win for Madrid to book a semi final fixture against Paris Saint-Germain.
The semi final fixtures are as follows:
Fluminense vs Chelsea Scheduled for July 8, 8pm.
PSG vs Real Madrid Scheduled for July 9, 8pm.
Fans and pundits alike say PSG appears to be the favorite to win the FIFA club world Cup going by their fantastic run of form.
