A Nigerian youth, Ugochukwu Eze, who is based in Abuja has narrated how officers of now dissolved Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) killed his father in Abuja, www.totorinews.com reports exclusively.
In an exclusive chat with TOTORI NEWS, Eze said that some SARS officers were at their neighbourhood in Karmo, Abuja to arrest one Monday Chukwu, but the neighbours came out to plead with the SARS officers when they heard the screams of Chukwu.
His father, late Mr. Solomon Eze, an elderly person in the neighbourhood was among those that were appealing to SARS officers to take it easy as the suspect ( Chukwu) demanded to know the offence he had committed to warrant his forceful arrest at his house.
As the heated arguments continued, one of the SARS officers angrily told his father to step aside or else he would end up being shot.
Suddenly, like a scene in a movie, the SARS officer quickly shot his father in the ear and his father died instantly.
“It was during the lockdown. It was precisely on the 10th of May, around 4pm that fateful Sunday, some SARS men came to my neighbourhood on illegal arrest of one Mr. Monday Chukwu,” Ugochukwu Eze told TOTORI NEWS.
“Monday Chukwu was pleading with them, asking them what was his offence, my father was also pleading on behalf of Monday. All of a sudden, one of those SARS officers came down from their vehicle.
“He asked my father in anger saying, papa abeg shift one side before i shoot you. Before we could know, he shot my father on his left eye and they entered into their vehicle and drove off.
“We were all in shock. The SARS officers came from Jabi Police station, Abuja. We went to the nearest police station to lodge our protest. A Police officer later helped to carry my father’s corpse into a vehicle to the mortuary.
“We buried him in our sorrows and nothing has been heard about the SARS officer that shot and killed my father till date.
“It is not only the Nigerian youths that are victims of SARS. It still pains me till today that my father was killed in such a tragic manner by the Nigeria police,” he concluded.
