Nasarawa State governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule, has lamented the slow pace of work on the ongoing 25km Mararaba-Udege road project.

The governor made his feelings known while inspecting the project site in Udege-Mbeki, on Tuesday.

The governor informed the officials of the Tongyi Group, the contractor handling the project, to expedite action in order to complete the project.

He particularly emphasized on the need to complete the bridge leading into Udege-Mbeki, to which the contractor assured of its completion this month.

Engineer Sule tasked the Tongyi Group to deliver quality work first before seeking additional jobs, even as he assured the contractor of payment of 50 percent of the contract sum.

The governor, while commissioning a 10-bed ward built by a Chinese mining company in Udege-Mbeki, assured the commitment of his administration to complete the road project, including township roads.

He pointed out that when completed, the Mararaba-Udege road will enhance security and facilitate movement of people in the area.

An official of the Tongyi Group, who conducted the governor round the site, assured that the project will be completed by this month.

Earlier, while enroute to Udege-Mbeki, the governor inspected the Model Government Girls Science Secondary School (GGSSS) Eyenu, where he interacted with the management of the school, as well as critical stakeholders from the area, with a view to further enhance academic activities in the school.

Along the way, Engineer Sule demonstrated his abiding love for children when he stopped intermittently to interact with school children that lined up the road to welcome him.

It will be recalled that the governor flagged off the N3.6billion Mararaba-Udege road  project while marking his second anniversary in office, with the project expected to be completed within a period of one year.
