As the race of the September 21 governorship election in Edo State gathers momentum, Hon. Omosede Igbinedion, a former federal lawmaker who represented Ovia Federal Constituency, has resigned her membership from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
According to reports Omosede, the daughter of Chief Gabriel Osawaru Igbinedion, the Esama of Benin Kingdom, submitted her letter of resignation from the party, which was dated August 11, 2024.
Omosede was among the aggrieved PDP governorship aspirants who protested against the conduct of the ward and local government delegates elections for the party’s primary.
She represented the party in the National Assembly between 2015 and 2019.
She cited a lack of equity, fairness, justice, and the marginalization of long-standing party members as reasons for her resignation.
