The Federal High Court in Abuja has convicted and sentenced a fake spiritualist, Solomon Odigie Moses, to one year imprisonment for defrauding an Indian woman seeking spiritual healing and subsequently blackmailing her over a nude video.

Justice C.N. Nwabulu convicted Moses on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, after he pleaded guilty to a one-count charge bordering on cheating and impersonation as a spiritualist.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission said Moses obtained $1,100 from the victim, identified as Sharon Kaur, after posing as a spiritual leader known as Dr Solomon on a fictitious TikTok account.

The convict was arrested in Ekpoma, Edo State, and was found to have received and laundered the money through his Zelle payment platform, after which the naira equivalent was transferred into his local bank account.

According to the prosecution, Moses subsequently deceived the victim into taking a nude spiritual bath, which he recorded without her consent.

He allegedly used the video to blackmail the woman, demanding money and threatening to release the recording publicly if she failed to pay.

The EFCC said its investigation established that the victim eventually paid $1,100 to Moses to prevent him from publishing the nude video.

The charge against the convict stated that he fraudulently impersonated a spiritual leader and obtained the money from the victim under the pretext of providing spiritual prayers and assistance.

“That you Solomon Odigie Moses (A.K.A. DR SOLOMON) sometimes in 2026 in Abuja, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court did fraudulently impersonate a spiritual leader named Dr. Solomon on a fictitious TikTok account and obtained the sum of $1,100 (One Thousand One Hundred Dollars) from an Indian lady by name Sharon Kaur, for the purpose of spiritual prayer and assistance…”

The offence was said to be contrary to Section 321 of the Penal Code Act (Abuja), Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 1990, and punishable under Section 322 of the same Act.

Following his guilty plea, prosecution counsel, Maryam Hayatudeen, urged the court to convict and sentence Moses accordingly.

Justice Nwabulu subsequently sentenced him to one year imprisonment with an option of N300,000 fine.

The judge also ordered that the $1,100 proceeds of crime be forfeited to the victim through the EFCC.
