The Independent Electoral Commission, INEC has pushed forward the governorship and state Houses of Assembly scheduled to hold on Saturday, March 11 to March 18.
According to sources close to INEC, the re-configuration of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) machines used for the February 25 presidential and National Assembly elections may have compelled the electoral body to take the action.
Sources said that the Commission management after a meeting on Wednesday considered either March 18 or March 25 for the elections. The commission however settled for March 18.
“You know that the BVAS re-configuration would take three or four days and since they would all be moved to the headquarters in Abuja, the machines would be re-configured and deployed to the various states and finally to the polling units,” the source have said.
