The theater commander, joint task force, Operation Fansan Yamma, Major General W.B Idris says the notorious bandit leader terrorising parts of the NorthWest of the country, Bello Turji will soon be history.
Addressing defence correspondents on Wednesday at the headquarters of Operation Fansan Yamma in Zamfara state , North West ,Nigeria, General Idris said troops of the Joint Task Force North-West, Operation FANSAN YANMA are maintaining relentless pressure on the likes of Bello Turji and other terrorist groups across the north-west, in order to ensure the safety of frontline communities.
According to him the sustained operations has continue to disrupt terrorist networks, recover weapons, and protect civilians while restoring stability to the region.
In his words: “Bello Turji will soon be history, I dare Bello Turji to come out and declare the local government areas he claims to be controlling.
The Theater Commander also highlighted that troops are conducting sustained operations across all sectors, including securing main supply routes, pursuing fleeing terrorists, conducting forest sweeps, and executing targeted rescue missions, such as the recent operation at the Government Girls’ Comprehensive Secondary School, Kebbi state.
According to him troops are also working closely with other security agencies and local vigilante groups including community protection guards, a strategy that has already led to surrenders of weapons and the release of captives in the theatre.
“Across all sectors, human intelligence is actively supporting our efforts. Terrorist leaders, including Dogo Gede, Guasca, and Taremi, are in panic mode and relocating after every operation,” Idris said.
He explained that security threats are most pronounced in parts of Katsina, Zamfara, Sokoto, Kaduna, and Niger States, where terrorists have attempted to impose illegal levies on local communities and deny farmers access to farmland to force compliance but troops responded by organizing communities into protected clusters, enabling effective patrols during planting and harvest seasons.
Answering questions from members of the media team, Gen. Idris dismissed as rumors information making the rounds regarding the alleged release of 70 terrorists by the Katsina state government as fake news saying no official communication had been received on the matter from the military heirachy.
While emphasizing the importance of the media as a partner in national security, he urged defence correspondents to convey verified information, combat misinformation, and help boost public confidence in the military.

Speaking on behalf of the media team, Team Lead, Commander Godwin Egbunu, praised the Theatre Commander and troops for their professionalism, reiterating that the visit was aimed at seeing their operations firsthand to enable accurate reportage and to strengthen collaboration between the military and media.
Highpoint of the visit was the presentation of a souvenir by the Team Leader, Commander Egbunu on behalf of the Chief of defence staff General Olufemi Oluyede to the Theatre Commander.
The Operation Fansan Yamma theatre of Operation is organized into multiple sectors covering Kaduna, Zamfara, Katsina, Sokoto, Niger, and parts of Kebbi State.
