A sporting Kits outfit ,Prophecy Cricket Bats and Equipment has endorsed Hornchurch Cricket Club and Nigerian International, Ositadimma Onwuzulike ahead of 2024 Essex Cricket Premier League Season.
Onwuzulike who made this known in an exclusive interview with www.sunrisetimes.com.ng said the endorsement was based on hard work which will definitely help him give his best in the fast approaching season.
The erstwhile Government College Ibadan Old Boys Cricket Club prolific batsman (GCIOBCC), hinted that with his endorsement it definitely means he would play a bigger role most especially in their Second team that has just gained Promotion to Essex Division 1.
” For this fast approaching season, I am good to go, my equipments have arrived since last year and we both set to seeing the endorsement a reality on the pitch of play.
“The Company has written to me about my sponsorship package, the discount code I will get whenever I want to buy any equipment, it is more of a partial endorsement not a full sponsorship”.
The Yellow-Greens player also described his early experience in the United Kingdom as an exposé hinting that the level of the game can never be compared with Nigeria’s cricket interns of the organisation, pitches, composition of the teams and the level of play.
According to Onwuzulike playing in Essex Premier League and playing with players who are cynosures in the game of cricket is an eye opener and a huge privilege adding that putting Nigeria national team on the map is one of the things he intend to do.
He stressed that it’s funny that majority of these great players did not know that Nigeria is a cricket playing nation.
“Cricket in the UK can never be compared with the way it runs in Nigeria, one will find out that most of the areas in UK have cricket pitches, the clubs are well defines and develop interns of organisation, composition of the Teams and level of play as well.
“I play with various team mates and opponents at various levels to mention few, Chris Greens of Australia , Mohammed Amir of Pakistan, Monty Panasar of England, Mohammed Infar of Pakistan, George Hankins,Gavin Griffiths and Aron Beard are all in the same team while some of them, I played against them. Before now many of the guys Did not know that Nigeria plays cricket and which I am trying to correct”. He hinted.
Onwuzulike said he is ready to honour a call-up to wear the Yellow-Green jersey again if the door of the Nigeria Cricket Federation (NCF), is open for invitation.
He therefore expressed his happiness and showered encomium of praise on the NCF and the Club Cricket Committee, the organiser of the CCC League for taken a drastic steps to facelift the face of the league in Nigeria.
“Watching Nigeria league and other competitions via YouTube and other social media and also having more teams in both division one and two signified a great improvement in the country’s organisation” Onwuzulike emphasised.
