The All Progressives Congress (APC) has constituted its National Campaign Council and a series of sub-committees to coordinate the party’s campaign ahead of the Osun State governorship election scheduled for August 15, 2026.
The party announced the development in a statement issued on Sunday by its National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka.
According to the statement, the National Campaign Council will be chaired by the Governor of Imo State and Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, Senator Hope Uzodimma.
The council will have the Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni; President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio; and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, as co-chairmen.
The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Political and Other Matters, Ibrahim Kabir Masari, will serve as Deputy Chairman, while the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau Jibrin, will function as Secretary of the council.
The APC said the campaign council comprises party leaders, governors, members of the National Working Committee, principal officers of the National Assembly, ministers, federal and state lawmakers, as well as other stakeholders drawn from across the country.
According to the party, the composition of the council reflects its determination to mobilise its leadership and membership towards securing victory in the forthcoming governorship election.
To ensure effective coordination of campaign activities, the APC also constituted specialised sub-committees to oversee critical aspects of the campaign.
The committees will handle election planning and management, finance and resource mobilisation, grassroots mobilisation, logistics, monitoring and compliance, protocol, media and publicity, security, youth mobilisation, women mobilisation, mobilisation of persons with disabilities, and secretariat functions.
The party said the committees are expected to coordinate campaign activities across the state and ensure effective mobilisation ahead of the poll.
The APC also announced that the National Campaign Council and its sub-committees will be inaugurated on Tuesday, July 28, 2026.
The inauguration is scheduled to take place at the Transcorp Hilton Event Centre in Abuja by 12 noon.
The party expressed confidence that the campaign structure would strengthen its efforts as it seeks victory in the Osun governorship election.
