Seye Olympio, the physical conditioning coach of the national team, said the women’s team presently in Camp in Benin, Edo State, will peak in fitness just in time for their coming engagement in Rwanda later in June.
According to the fitness trainer, “the players are doing the hard work and getting prepped up for the Kwibuka in June. The regimen we have for them is such that the team should peak into the tournament and this is working out well.”
Although the team, will not be having the services of five players that prosecuted the NCF Women’s T20 Invitational for the country earlier in March, but he said the replacement players are blending in well.
“A couple of the players from the March’s T20 team are engaging in one form of academic pursuit or the other. Some are writing the WAEC (Secondary School Ordinary Level Exam), while others are also involved other forms of higher institution exams as well. But the Nigeria Cricket Federation has called up some other players as replacement.” He added.
Olympio said that the new p[layers are blending in well and the time they have camped so far has allowed for some bonding and also the trainers to do some works on them.
Nigeria Women’s team is preparing to take part in the annual remembrance Cricket Tournament in Rwanda; Kwibuka, which will feature Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Brazil, Germany, Botswana, Nigeria and host Rwanda. The event will run between June 7th to 18th, 2022.
