As part of the commemoration of the 2021 World Heart Day, Kanu Heart Foundation KHF is set to bring together over 2,000 people from all walks of life for the 2nd edition of “Walk With Kanu” billed for the Federal Capital Territory FCT Abuja on the 29th of September,2021.
Addressing the media at a press briefing on Saturday in Abuja, Chairman, Local Organising Committee, Walk with Kanu, Mr Muhammed Mustapha said the walk is to create awareness on the need to take care of our health and the need for exercise to help reduce cardiovascular diseases.
In his words: “it is a walk not only for Kanu. It’s a walk for ourselves, the more you walk the better for our hearts.
“The aim of the walk with Kanu is to improve awareness and intervention on the need to protect and care for our hearts.
Mustapha said the theme of the 7km walk/event which is in its second year is: “Abuja Walk With Kanu Nwankwo To Make The Heartbeat” .
According to him the event kicks off at the IGP’s office at the Nigeria Police headquarters through the Federal Secretariat to the High court/Abia House, Peniel Apartments, AP Plaza, INEC Office, the CAC Headquarters and finally terminates at the Unity Fountain of the Trancorp Hilton Hotel
The LOC chairman also revealed that the Walk With Kanu event will attract notable personalities like comedian AY, Nollywood stars like Tonto Dikeh Francis Duru, Okon, Football Legends such as Tijani Babangida, Daniel Amokachi, Emmanuel Emenike, Victor Ikpeba ,singer Dare Art Alade amongst others.
Mustapha speaking further on the achievements of the Kanu Heart Foudation KHF establishe some 21 years ago said since its inception the Kanu Heart Foundation has provided over 565 persons with free heart surgeries in different hospitals across the world with over 224 persons waiting in line to enjoy same benefits.
Muhammed Mustapha popularly known as ”Mo” however said proceeds from the Walk With Kanu events would go to the Kanu Heart Foundation(KHF).
The organisers has assured that every logistic has been put in place to ensure a smooth walk in the FCT.
The event billed to start at 7:00 am with free medical check-ups for all participants before the walk.
World Heart Day is celebrated every year on 29th September was created by World Heart Federation.
According to the organisation, World Heart Day is meant to raise awareness that CVD, including heart disease and stroke which is the world’s leading cause of death claiming 17.9 million lives each year.
