Ghana won the maiden edition of the WAFU B U17 Girls Cup on Sunday on home soil in a dramatic 5-4 penalty shootout victory over Nigeria’s Flamingos after playing out 2-2 in regular time.
It was a captivating four-goal thriller at the Ghanaian Center of Excellence in Pram pram which saw Nigeria staging a dramatic comeback after trailing by 2 goals .
Gertrude Amoafo opened the scoring for the hosts in the 14th minutes, with Priscillia Mensah doubling their lead just five minutes later.
Nigeria fought back gallantly,leveling the game to force a penalty.
Nigeria’s Taiwo Adegoke however missed her attempt striking the woodwork to give the Ghanaian a hard worn victory.
Earlier Benin Republic claimed third place with a penalty shootout victory over Cote d’ Ivoire.
