Troops of the Joint Task Force North-West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued 10 civilians in separate operations across Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara states.
The operations, conducted between August 18 and 19, were part of sustained efforts by the troops to protect communities and disrupt terrorist and kidnapping activities across the North-West.
In Sokoto State, troops conducting a patrol in Isa Local Government Area on Tuesday encountered a terrorist ambush and responded swiftly, forcing the attackers to flee.
Five civilians were rescued during the encounter and subsequently reunited with their families, while two motorcycles abandoned by the terrorists were recovered.
In Kebbi State, troops acting on intelligence about the abduction of three persons conducted a search-and-rescue operation in Danko Wasagu Local Government Area on August 18.
The operation resulted in the rescue of all three victims, who were profiled before being handed over to the appropriate local authorities.
Similarly, troops responding to reported terrorist activities in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State on August 18 mobilised to the area and forced the terrorists to flee, abandoning two captives.
The two victims, who sustained gunshot wounds during their ordeal, were immediately evacuated to a medical facility for urgent treatment.
The military said efforts were ongoing to track and neutralise the fleeing terrorists.
The Theatre Command commended the troops for their vigilance and swift response, assuring residents that operations would be sustained to keep pressure on terrorist elements across the Joint Operations Area.
It also urged members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to security forces to support ongoing operations and strengthen the protection of lives and property.
