The devastating news of the sudden demise of the national president of the Sports Writers’ Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Comrade Ahmed Aigbona has left many people in profound shock and immense sadness.
The FCT Sports Writers’ Association of Nigeria (SWAN) chapter expresses its heartfelt condolence to his family, relatives, friends, stakeholders in sports and the SWAN family.
Chairman of the FCT SWAN, Bunmi Haruna while expressing his heartfelt condolence, said, “Death has indeed dealt SWAN a big blow. Words still fail us in expressing the magnitude of the loss of a great man who lived a life of impact:, years of intentional action and pure love in everything he did.
“Late Comrade Aigbona was a sports journalist who was passionate about steering the ship of the association forward,” Haruna noted.
The SWAN chairman continued, “He was a leader whose selfless service towards a developed SWAN was exemplary. He was a comrade and a champion.
“His contributions to sports journalism in Nigeria remain evergreen and will forever be cherished,” he further said.
Bunmi concluded by praying that Late Aigbona finds eternal rest as he transits to eternal life. “He will be greatly missed as the president of SWAN, he has left a big shoe to be filled. Adieu!”
Comrade Ahmed Aigbona died on Sunday night in benin city after a brief illness. He has since been buried on Monday in Auchi his hometown according to Islamic rites.
