The 2025 Under 23 National Squash Championships was a huge success as turnout was fantastic , these according to Engr. Boye Oyerinde , President, Nigeria Squash Federation.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with www.sunrisetimes.com.ng, during a post-mortem of the 6- day event, Ojerinde praised the players, officials, coaches and spectators who contributed to the success of the event.
In his words: ” the 2025 under 23 squash national championships has been a huge success”
“We had a fantastic turnout despite the event is the maiden edition“, Ojerinde said.
According to the President, the championship was an initiative of the Professional Squash Association in honour of two major stakeholders of the game in Nigeria in the persons of George Etomi and Folarin Williams.
Oyerinde whose second tenure as Squash Federation president winds down later in the year promised to maintain the momentum generated during the maiden edition as the federation will strive to upgrade the U23 category for more participation in years to come.
The tournament had participants compete in the male and female categories with Dominion Utukpe winning the men’s category while Mistura Durosinlorun scooped gold medal in the women’s category ,both winners went home with one million naira each as prize money.
The Nigeria National U23 Squash ran between 28th July, 2025 to 2nd August, 2025 at the indoor sports hall of the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.
