The House of Representatives has cut short its annual long recess to hold emergency plenary on Wednesday, 31st July, 2024.
An internal memo sent to Honourable Members on Sunday, 28th July, 2024 and signed by the Clerk of the House, Dr. Yahaya Danzaria with the subject:
“Plenary Session Scheduled for Wednesday, July 31, 2024” read:
Dear Honourable Members,
On the directive of the Rt. Hon. Speaker, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, PhD, please be informed that there will be a plenary sitting on Wednesday, July 31, 2024.
You are kindly requested to make necessary arrangements to attend, as important matters will be deliberated upon during this session.
We regret any inconvenience caused by the interruption of the annual recess. However, we count on the dedication and patriotism that the 10th Assembly is known for.
“Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
“Best regards”, the statement read.
Recall that the National Assembly shut down for a two month recess on Tuesday, 23rd July, to resume on Tuesday, 19th September, 2024.
Also recall the members of the National Assembly, including Speaker Abbas, have urged Nigerians to shun the proposed protest.
