Flora Ugwunwa has won Team Nigeria’s 4th medal in the ongoing Paralympic Games holding in Paris, the French capital.
The 40-year old finished second in the women’s F54 Javelin event with a highest throw of 19.26m to claim silver, behind Uzbekhi’s Kurbanova Nurkhon who threw 21.12m to set a new World Record.
The Uzbekhi exerted her revenge on the Nigerian after finishing second in the event 4 years ago.
This will be Ugwunwa’s 3rd Paralympics showing after winning Gold medals in the Tokyo 2020 and Rio de Janeiro 2016 editions. In Rio, Ugwunwa set a Paralympic Record of 20.25m, one that was smashed by Kurbanova today.
44-year old Salehi Elham from the Islamic Republic of Iran finished third with a 16.24m highest throw.
