Ukpor, Anambra State – In a major breakthrough under Operation Udo Ga Chi – Zero Kidnapping, police operatives attached to the Rapid Response Squad/Anti-Kidnapping Unit on April 25, 2025, stormed a suspected criminal camp at Osumoghu Isieke Village in Ihiala Local Government Area. One suspect, 35-year-old Ewulu Chikwo, was arrested during the raid.
In a statement signed by SP Tochukwu Ikenga, Police Public Relations Officer of the Anambra State Police Command, the suspect confessed to being a member of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). He also admitted to participating in the 2022 armed attack on the Ukpor Divisional Police Headquarters, during which Inspector Stella Maris was brutally murdered. According to the police, Chikwo and his gang were planning to enforce an illegal sit-at-home order in the area on the following Monday.
The Joint Security Force has since intensified patrols across the region, with the police command pledging swift and decisive action based on any credible security intelligence, particularly in efforts to apprehend remaining gang members.
