Kehinde Olajuyin and Kamaru Adebari goals were enough to earn Ekiti FC 2-1 victory over visiting Rovers FC of Calabar.
The Nigeria National League, NNL Matchday day 7 was played at the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium, Ado-Ekiti.
Ekiti United hit the ground running from the blast of the whistle and was awarded a penalty in the 3rd minutes when a Rovers FC player handled the ball inside the area.
The resultant penalty was however saved by Rovers FC goalkeeper, Clinton Ezekiel who calmly parried Kehinde Olajuyin kick for a cornerkick.
But Kehinde Olajuyin was quick to repay for the lost penalty in the 6th minute when he connected well from George Adedara well tailored pass from the right flank to head home the first goal for Kehinde Anjorin’s side.
Ekiti United went into the interval with a one goal cushion.
On resumption, Ekiti United made too substitution with Pius Chikodi and Segun Ajengele replacing Olushola Oluwole and Odufu Noah.
Segun Ajengele quickly made his impact felt in the 52nd minutes when is header almost found the the back of the net but Clinton Ezekiel reacted well to cover his gaol line area.
The Samson Unanuel side leveled score in the 56th minute when Omolabi Owolabi rose highest to nod him from a corner.
Both teams began to search for the winner but it was the home side that made use of their chances when substitute Kamaru Adebari beat his maker inside the box to slot home the winner sending the home bench into wide jubilation.
Ekiti United goalkeeper, Wale Makanjuola denied the visitors a late a equalizer when he pushed a goal bound long range effort from a Rovers striker for a cornerkick.
Ekiti United will next face Vandrezzer on the road on matchday 8 in Uyo.
