The Nigerian Defence headquarters DHQ said it has uncovered plans by some groups to disguise in military gear in order to cause havoc and disrupt the off cycle elections billed for 11th of November 2023 in Kogi, Bayelsa and Imo States.
Addressing defence correspondent on Thursday in Abuja during the Biweekly media parley, Director, Defence Media Operations, Major General Edward Buda maintained that the Military is adequately prepared to neutralize any mischief makers.
Speaking on the activities of the Nigeria military the last one week Maj. Gen Buba said the Nigerian Armed Forces will not fold its arms and watch its image tarnished.
In his words: “Our message to such a group is that there will be injurious consequences for such an action. The military will not fold its arms and watch its image dragged to the mud.
“For the off season elections in Bayelsa, Imo and Kogi States this weekend; here is a message for you: The military is deployed in strength for the election to emplace a safe environment for voters to peaceful come out and cast their votes.”
While assuring the public of the safety of their lives and properties , the director of media advised voters to be law abiding and shun all acttions that may want to truncate the polling exercise.
