Ikorodu City football club of Lagos narrowly lost one goal to nil to defending champions, Rangers Fc of Enugu in a rescheduled Nigeria Professional Football League match day 2 encounter played at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan , Lagos on Wednesday.
Playing in front of a lively Onikan crowd, defending NPFL champions Rangers took control in the early minutes of the game and managed to score from a corner kick in the 27th minute of the encounter through Ugwueze Chinemerem Collins.
The hosts Ikorodu City displayed determination, battling hard to find their way back into the match but could not find the back of the net all through the first forty-five minutes of the encounter.
The second half started on an entertaining note with Ikorodu City improving on their pressing game and started to control the game, creating more chances while trying to get an equalizer but the Flying Antelopes from Enugu displayed solid defending to preserve their first half goal.
The game ended 1-0 in favor of the Fidelis Ilechukwu tutored lads.
This loss leaves Ikorodu City fc bottom of the log at 20th position after three matches raising worries among their technical crew and fans alike.
Ikorodu City Fc will next host 13th placed Nasarawa United football club of Lafia on Saturday 28th ,September, 2024 at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena , Onikan Lagos in a match day 4 encounter.
