Nigerians are set for a new experience in the Travel Industry as foremost travel agency; Safety Travels Limited launched it’s Artificial Intelligence AI , powered travel Assistant.
The cutting edge technology unveiled in Abuja , Nigeria’s capital on Monday, 10th of August, 2026 during a World Press conference was described by the company as first of its kind in Africa designed to make flight searches and bookings seamless, easier, safer and more transparent for travellers.
Speaking at the event, Chairman of Safety Travels Limited Governing Board and member of the African Aviation and Aerospace University, Abuja, Hon. Chidi Nwogu, said the innovation was developed to take the company’s operations to a higher level while responding to rapid changes in the global travel industry.
Nwogu, a former Federal lawmaker from Imo State said the company, which has been operating for about 40 years as a family-owned business is employing the AI Assistant technology as part of efforts to preserve the company’s legacy while embracing modern trends in the travel sector.
According to him the company’s payment platform incorporates advanced technology to protect travellers’ identities and sensitive information while assuring users of safety and security of their personal details and funds .
In his words: “Safety Travels Limited handles more than 5,000 passports belonging to high-profile clients, making integrity, confidentiality and data security essential to its operations.
While urging members of the public to patronise credible and properly registered travel agencies, Nwogu warned against patronizing fraudulent operators who impersonate legitimate travel companies through fake websites and online platforms.
“Our company’s long-standing involvement in Nigeria’s aviation sector had strengthened its commitment to improving the industry and ensuring that Nigerian travel services meet global standards“, Nwogu said.

Also Speaking at the event, the General Manager of Safety Travels Limited, Joseph Agofure, said as part of the It’s unique features, the AI Assistant allows travellers to search for flights using voice prompts to make and complete bookings online.
According to him, apart from English, the system has been trained to understand several other languages including Nigerian languages; Yoruba, Igbo, Idoma, Ibibio, Efik, Pidgin and Hausa as well as Spanish, Chinese amongst others enabling users to make travel requests seamlessly .
“The AI then processes the request and provides available flight options based on the traveller’s departure point, destination and preferred travel details”, Agofure said.
One of the highpoints of the event was a demonstration of the technology where the AI Assistant processed a voice request for a cheap flight from Abuja to Lagos and generated different flight options with varying departure times and fares to the applause of the audience.
According to the General Manager, the platform also provides travellers with important flight information, including departure and arrival times, duration, baggage allowance, fare conditions and refund policies, before they proceed with payment.
Agofure said travellers could access the platform through smartphones, laptops and other internet-enabled devices, while booking confirmations and payment information are sent to the email address provided by the customer.
While advising travellers to be vigilant when making online bookings and payments as fraudulent websites have been used to defraud unsuspecting customers in the past.
