Football management agency and owners of Geezerz Football Academy , Geezerz Sports has announced plans for the commencement of its maiden edition of Secondary Schools Football League billed for first quarter of 2025 across Nigeria.
Addressing sports journalists in Abuja on Friday, Director of Project and Programme Development, Geezerz Sport Limited, Mr. Adedayo Adeniyi said his organization is bringing a first of its kind Secondary School League which is set to commence in the first quarter of 2025 with the FCT as a pilot centre.
According to Adeniyi the league will be played across the 36 states of the federation, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) with the main goal of creating opportunities for talented young footballers in the country to be discovered and nurtured.
In his words : “As we look forward to 2025, we are thrilled to unveil several key programs that aim to expand our reach and deepen our impact,”.
“We intend to launch a ground-breaking league for secondary school students, designed to foster grassroots football development, competitive excellence, and core values such as teamwork, discipline and league.
“The league will commence with a pilot project in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) hopefully in the first quarter of 2025.
Speaking further, Adeniyi noted that his organization will go into strategic partnership with relevant stakeholders in Nigeria’s sports sector, including Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) to make the league a success.
“Collaborating with key stakeholders in football, education and community development to create sustainable opportunities for young talents across Nigeria”, he said.
“At Geezers Sport, we are guided by a clear mission to encourage young talents and harness the power of football as a transformative tool for community and social development”. Said Adeniyi .
The well attended media briefing had in attendance members of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, SWAN ,FCT chapter led by its Chairman, Comrade Kelechi Onwudiwe, the Geezerz sports team ; Mr. Ademola Adeniyi, Director of Scouting and Recruitment, Ms. Omojo Audu, Director of Marketing and Finance; Mr. Batholomew Isagie, Director of Training/Coaching; Ms. Kehinde Alli-Inman, Director of Logistics and Operations; and Mr. David Enang, Director of Legal and Compliance.
