Twenty-One Clubs will take part in 2022/2023 Gbolahan Olusegun Yishau Club Cricket Committee (CCC)League in Division 1 and 2.
Chairman of the CCC League, Akin Denton said during the press Conference that this year’s edition of the league would be an exciting one.
Mr Denton said that one hundred and fifty games would be played in a round robbing format adding that their sponsors would not be let down.
“The 2022/2023 CCC League promises to be an exciting time. This season alone we have so many new entrance into the league, twenty-one teams playing about 150 games, it promises to be an exciting time for all the cricket enthusiasts, particular for our sponsors and our stakeholders.
” We are asking our supporters to come out to watch cricket from the first of October 2022 to March 2023.
According to Denton, in CCC League “We are working very hard to provide the structure, the corporate governance but COVID 19 took away à bit of it.
“CCC League started in 1987 with four teams and now in ,2022, we are 21 and is still growing. My dream is to have Club Cricket played in Lagos where people will come and will pay money to watch cricket but we are not there yet is still free of charge, we still have long way to go.
“We do achieve so much more like our football friends are doing. We want to bring in at least three to five thousand spectators to come and watch good Cricket on Saturdays and Sundays and to have good infrastructure to do so. Part of the plans of government is to ensure that cricket is been played in schools, roads, in part of the local governments but we not yet there, there is a lot to do but we are happy with what we have done so far.
Mr Denton, ex board member of Lagos State Cricket Association also promised that the league would stream all the matches both in Division one and two live from different handles of media for the world to see the activeness of the CCC executive.
“I feel good to lead the executive board of CCC at this time, it is just the way to go, the games would be streamed live, the games are on different media angles . More teams have joined and more teams are still coming because they see that something good is happening, we want to be the biggest Club Cricket League in Africa but we are not there yet”. Denton hinted.
