The Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction has dismissed claims that it has commenced registration for a ₦50,000 National Support Allowance, describing the information circulating on social media as false and fraudulent.
In a public advisory issued on Sunday, the ministry urged Nigerians to ignore messages, links and websites claiming to offer registration for the purported scheme, warning that they are the handiwork of fraudsters seeking to deceive unsuspecting members of the public.
“The Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction has not commenced registration for any ₦50,000 National Support Allowance,” the ministry stated.
It further advised Nigerians not to click on suspicious links or submit personal information through unofficial platforms, stressing that any legitimate government social intervention programme would only be announced through verified government channels.
“Disregard fraudulent messages, links and websites claiming otherwise. Verify any information only through official government channels,” the ministry added.
The ministry’s warning comes amid the circulation of viral messages on social media claiming that registration for a ₦50,000 National Support Allowance had commenced, prompting concerns among Nigerians seeking financial assistance.
Authorities urged the public to remain vigilant against online scams and to verify all information relating to government empowerment and social investment programmes through the ministry’s official communication platforms before taking any action.
