…My company is Limark International Nigeria Limited-Yakubu Atokolo

...The allegations are political and handwork of my opponents -Yakubu

Interim Chairman of the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents ANLCA, Abuja branch, Mr Yakubu Atokolo has distanced himself from the alleged intercepted 6,128kg consignment of Tramadol seized by the Nigerian Customs Service NCS at the Nnamdi Azikiwe international airport, Abuja.

Speaking with Journalists on Thursday, Atokolo said he runs an honest and transparent company in the name of Limark International Nigeria Limited and has never done business at any time with Limak Nigeria limited or have any knowledge of the existence of such a company.

Reacting to the Press release given by the Nigerian Customs Service, NCS concerning the matter and also the misinformation in some section of the media, Atokolo said neither he, his company Limark International Nigeria Limited nor Alhaji Ibrahim Umar or Saratab Global Services were indicted by the NCS during their press conference.
In his words: “This is a smear campaign from my detractors and political enemies, the false allegations is a result of a political tussle between me and other political opponents in the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents, ANLCA”, he said.
“The report in some section of the media is not only false, misleading but also politically motivated and sponsored by my opponents in the ANLCA.
” Alhaji Ibrahim Umar has no business with me”.
“Alhaji Umar and I are not business associates, we operate separate businesses”

“I wonder why they would link him with me”
” We operate under two different companies”,
Yakubu emphasized.

Speaking on the intercepted shipment, Yakubu said: “All the Shipper’s information are contained in the shipment papers which are in the custody of the NDLEA and none of these were linked to me or my company.

Debunking the news that he has been on the run, the Interim ANLCA Chairman said: “I was never on the run, my lawyers have visited the NDLEA office in Abuja and I have instructed my legal team to proceed with legal actions against the media house that published the false and defamatory article.

Atokolo however praised the efforts of the Nigerian Customs Service and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA for the good work they are doing, saying he believes a thorough investigation would be conducted and justice served.
According to him: “I believe in the abilities of the Nigerian Customs Service under the able able leadership of CG Adewale Bashir Adeniyi to conduct a thorough investigation.
“Even the NDLEA would pursue a thorough and dispassionate investigation in the matter especially considering the shipper’s documents which are in their custody and which contains all the information of the origin and destination of the contraband”, Yakubu said.

On his part , the former chairman of the association, Alhaji Ibrahim Umar also dissociated himself and his company, Saratab Global Services from the said contraband, insisting he runs an honest and transparent company.
“By the Grace of God, I don’t know anything about what they are talking about”. He said.
“My company is Saratab Global Services, if they are talking about Yakubu Atokolo, we don’t have the same company”.
“I am the number one agent in Abuja and the former chairman of ANLCA.
“The day the NDLEA came to Abuja to evacuate the shipment I was in Lagos doing some job
,” Umar disclosed.
“Even from the Press release the Customs gave I was not indicted nor was any company that related to me indicted.

Stressing further, Umar said: “I don’t even know where they got my name, maybe it is the work of my enemies, my political opponents.
” As far as I am concerned I don’t know anything about the job”,
Alhaji Umar concluded.
