As part of its management policies to recognize Nigerians who have distinguished themselves in their various fields of endeavors, Core Reporters have named the Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Yemi Cardoso as the FINANCIAL MAN of the year, while the EXECUTIVE SECRETARY of the year goes to Dr. Anthony Ojukwu (SAN), Executive Secretary of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), and Rep. Clement Jimbo for his achievements in 2024 is named the LAWMAKER of the year.

Core Reporters is an online media organisation that is known for investigative, balanced and developmental journalism.

However, a statement by Raphael Ekpang the Editor-in-Chief of Core Reporters, on Wednesday, February 18, 2025 and made available to newsmen in Abuja, said after a painstaking review and consideration of activities as well as policies of the nation’s apex bank in stabilizing the naira, the CBN governor Yemi Cardoso was named FINANCIAL MAN of the year in view.

Recall that in 2024 the International Finance Corporation, IFC, a member of the World Bank Group signed an agreement with the Central Bank of Nigeria, (CBN), to increase local currency financing to enable private businesses in Nigeria to grow and thrive.
This pioneering initiative between the IFC and CBN is unlocking the much-needed long-term local currency financing for private businesses in Nigeria at economically viable rates.

Also, Dr. Ojukwu during the #EndBadGovernance protests in 2024, was up against the security agencies on the need to uphold the rights of the protesters. He was also at the forefront in condemning the arraignment for treason of children and minors who allegedly participated in the nationwide #EndBadGovernance protests.

Rep Clement Jimbo, representing Abak/ Etim Ekpo/ Ika Federal Constituency in the 10th Assembly has not only surpassed the achievement of his predecessors at the green chamber in less than two years but has also set a record of empowerment and fulfillment of campaign promises in Nigeria.

Rep. Jimbo donated a TIPPER to the Loader’s Association in Akwa Ibom State, first in history for a politician to fulfill such campaign promises since 1960.

He has facilitated six Federal jobs to his constituents. 13 empowerment projects training, executed 11 Constituency projects, moved eight motions and sponsored two bills and organized free medical outreach in his constituency among other things.

Ekpang, in a statement said, “It’s our policy to encourage those who are doing well in their respective offices. That is why we’ve singled out CBN Governor, NHRC’s Executive Secretary and Rep Clement Jimbo, a first timer in NASS, but has surpassed achievements of those who have spent over eight years in the Green Chamber.

“We are happy to identify ourselves with the three of them, especially as they are setting the pace in their offices, we do hope these honours will encourage them to do more in the present year.” the statement said.
