The Special Adviser on Social investment to Ekiti state Governor, MR VICTOR KOLADE says the various Federal Government social investment initiative executed in the South West States have reduced poverty level in and transform the lives of the people in the region.
MR KOLADE gave this indication while featuring as a representative of the South West on a Special Edition of Radio link, a Radio Nigeria Network Audience Participatory programme which focus on the assessment of the humanitarian activities of the Federal Government in the South West.
KOLADE noted that all the component of the social investment programmes were targeted at poor people in the society to bring them out of poverty and make their lives more comfortable.
The special Adviser contended that the Home Grown School Feeding programme, Conditional Cash Transfer and Npower programmes recorded a large success in the South West region which has further given hope to the hopeless.
MR KOLADE said about 120,000 pupils were being fed daily in Ekiti State under the school feeding programme while hundreds of people were being given 5000 each monthly as stipends on the Conditional Cash Transfer scheme.
He made it clear that contrary to the insinuations, South West States are not selective in the execution of the social investment programme as the package cut across the nooks and crannies of the society.
He explained that the programmes have been a success in Ekiti State with the feedback government was getting daily across communities.
Answering questions on palliatives, MR KOLADE said all the palliatives as received by Ekiti State Government and kept in the data bank were distributed to the vulnerable and people at the grassroots to cushion the effect of the COVID 19 pandemic.
He remarked that government also ensure prompt payment of salaries while many preventive measures were taken to mitigate the problem that might characterised the COVID 19 pandemic.
He expressed the determination of the Ekiti State Government and other South West States to always key into any Federal Government’s scheme aimed at alleviating the sufferings of the masses at the grassroots to ensure good governance.
