The Nigerian Senate on Thursday confirmed ZIKURULLAH OLAKUNLE HASSAN as the new chairman of Hajj Commission alongside three executive commissioners and five Part-Time members.
The chairman of the Senate committee on Foreign Affair, SEN. EMMANUEL BWACHA (Taraba South) has earlier urged the senate to receive and considered the report of his committee on the confirmation of appointment of Hassan as the chairman of the Hajj Commission and his members.
Meanwhile, the senate also confirmed ABDULAHI HARDAWA, as executive commissioner Operation, Inspection and Licensing; NURA YAKASAI as executive commissioner Policy, Personnel, Management and Finace and Sheikh MOMOH IMONNIKHE as executive Commissioner, Planing, Research, Statistics, Information and Library.
Also, HALIMAT JIBRIL (Niger State), ANNAN JATO (Borno), YARBA UMAR (Sokoto), IBRAHIM OGBONNIA AMAH (Ebonyi), SADIQ ONIYESANEYENE MUSA (Delta) and AKINTUNDE OLAYINKA were both confirmed as Part-time members.
Eight representatives from Ministries, Departments and Agencies were also confirmed.
However, the President of the Senate AHMAD LAWAN enjoined the new chairman to work on the reduction of airfare for intending pilgrims.
